HOW TO EXTRACT MILK & Milk CURD ?

SESAME SEEDS MILK, CURD MILK: For extraction of milk alone the ratio of sesame seeds to water is 1:15.

  • Soak 100gm of sesame seeds in 250ml water for about 5 hours.

  • Add it to mixer along with remaining 1¼ litre water and grind for about a minute. Strain this milk using a muslin cloth/ cheese cloth into a clean bowl.

  • MILK & CURD: For extraction of milk and making curd the ratio of sesame seeds to water is 1:10. Soak 100gm of sesame seeds in 250ml/ 300ml water for about 5 hours.

  • Add it to mixer and grind for about a minute.

  • Strain this milk using a muslin cloth/ cheese cloth into a clean bowl. This milk can be used for making curd. Heat this milk until lukewarm using a double boiler method (ie place the milk bowl in another bowl of hot water). For fermenting, add the regular curd ( made from desi cow milk) to this milk.

  • It might take 12 hours or more for the formation of curd.

  • Next time you can use this curd for fermentation. Put back the remaining sesame pulp with 750ml/ 700ml water into the mixer. Strain the milk as mentioned above.

  • Now this milk can be used for drinking.

  • CURD: For extraction of milk to make curd alone the ratio of sesame seeds to water is 1:5. Soak 100gm of sesame seeds in 500ml water. Extract milk and make curd as mentioned above.

  • NOTE: One can consume upto 200ml of milk on a daily basis. Best when taken without adding any sweeteners(palm jaggery). It’s 10 times richer in calcium when compared to the cow milk. Extracting milk using mortar and pestle is the best way. 

  • COCONUT MILK For extracting milk the ratio of grated coconut to water is 1cup:2cups. Grate coconut or make small pieces and add it to a mixer with water. Strain and drink the milk. To extract milk from a whole coconut ¼ litre to ½ litre water can be used.

  • PEARL/ FINGER/ GROUNDNUT/ SAFFLOWER MILK, CURD For extraction of milk and making curd the ratio of above seeds/millets to water is 1:5. Soak 50g of above seeds/millets for 4 to 5 hours in 250ml water. Later add them to a mixer and extract milk. Strain using muslin cloth/ cheese cloth.

  • MILK: To consume this as milk, heat it until lukewarm using double boiler method. Stir continuously. To it add palm jaggery syrup and drink.

  • CURD: For making curd, heat milk until lukewarm using double boiler method and add regular curd (made from desi cow milk) for fermentation. It might take 12 hours or more for the formation of curd. Next time you can use this curd for fermentation.
